Certified Risk Based Inspection for Onshore Structures Professional/Manager (CRBIOSP)™/(CRBIOSM)™

The Certified Risk Based Inspection for Onshore Structures Professional/Manager (CRBIOSP)™/(CRBIOSM)™ certification program is a globally relevant and technically specialized qualification designed for professionals seeking to build or advance careers in structural integrity, inspection engineering, and risk-based maintenance. Onshore structures—such as industrial plants, storage facilities, refineries, terminals, and supporting infrastructure—are critical assets that must be maintained to ensure safety, operational continuity, and regulatory compliance. Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) provides a structured methodology to prioritize inspection activities based on risk, allowing organizations to optimize maintenance efforts while minimizing potential failures. This program equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to implement RBI frameworks for onshore structures effectively.

Modern onshore facilities operate under complex conditions involving mechanical stress, environmental exposure, corrosion, and aging infrastructure. Professionals must be able to assess structural components, apply inspection techniques, evaluate risks, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The CRBIOSP™/CRBIOSM™ program develops strong technical competence in RBI principles, structural inspection methods, and data-driven decision-making. It also emphasizes regulatory compliance, inspection planning, and continuous improvement to enhance structural reliability and extend asset life.

Risk-based inspection professionals play a vital role in ensuring the safety and performance of onshore structures. They help organizations prevent structural failures, reduce operational risks, and maintain compliance with safety regulations. Graduates of the CRBIOSP™/CRBIOSM™ program will be equipped to design, implement, and manage RBI programs with technical precision, analytical rigor, and strategic insight.

Certification Program Objectives:

Upon completing the Certified Risk Based Inspection for Onshore Structures Professional/Manager (CRBIOSP)™/(CRBIOSM)™ program, participants will be able to:

  • Understand Risk-Based Inspection Fundamentals – Apply core concepts and methodologies of RBI in structural integrity management.
  • Analyze Onshore Structure Types and Components – Evaluate different structural systems including buildings, storage tanks, and industrial frameworks.
  • Apply Risk Assessment Methodologies – Assess likelihood and consequences of failure using structured risk models.
  • Utilize Inspection Techniques and Technologies – Apply inspection tools such as non-destructive testing (NDT), visual inspection, and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance and Standards – Align inspection practices with industry codes, standards, and legal requirements.
  • Develop Risk Mitigation and Inspection Plans – Design inspection schedules and mitigation strategies to reduce risk and improve reliability.

Certification Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for certification from The American Institute of Business and Management (AIBM) and its allied institutions, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution

And/or

  • 0–4.9 years relevant experience for Professional level (CRBIOSP)™, or 5+ years for Manager level (CRBIOSM)™.

Note: Applicants who do not hold a Bachelor’s degree but possess exceptional professional experience and hold significant positions within their organizations in a relevant field may also be considered for certification on a case-by-case basis, subject to the approval of the AIBM evaluation committee.

Certifying Examination:

  • To be certified as CRBIOSP™/CRBIOSM™, student should take up a 1.5 hours online exam conducted by AIOGM.
  • The qualifying exam would consist of 50 multiple choice questions, testing core certification modules.
  • Professionals with relevant experience and other qualifying criteria may be exempted from the examination.
